How to get rid of pillings
It is possible that pilling occurs which is not linked to the furniture fabric. It is caused by other materials with which the textile has been in contact. For example, it could come from clothing or a blanket that sheds a lot of fibre. This type of pilling occurs when the material contains synthetic fibres, and often in combination with static electricity. Static electricity attracts dust and particles that stick to the textile and can cause these "nubby" conditions. This may be partly or wholly due to low humidity and the problem is greatest during the winter months when people like to close up and turn up the heat. Use a humidifier to prevent the problem. The fact that a textile item may form pilling should not be considered a complaint. There are products available to prevent pilling, please ask your furniture retailer about it.
